The Faika Podcast focuses on promoting positive Pacific Islander role models. Faika started in 2017 at FCCFREERADIO.COM where the hosts Nackie and Carl learned how to book guests, run the studio gear and produce a show. In 2019 the show grew into its own studio location. Guests on the show have been a wide variety of entrepreneurs, athletes, scholars, educators, small business owners, and champions of the improvement and advancement of the Pacific Islander community. Faika broadcasts live on Facebook every Sunday at 10 am Pacific Time.

Nackie, co-founder of PBD, is an accomplished professional dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of Pacific Islanders. With a dynamic presence, she actively engages with individuals, employing her skills as an on-air personality, emcee, speaker, event correspondent, and social media director.

Beyond her impressive career in media and event management, Nackie is a mother of five and a cancer survivor, demonstrating unwavering resilience in the face of adversity. She is also a passionate advocate for victims of sexual assault, championing their rights and supporting their healing journeys.

Nackie's commitment extends to her deep-rooted connection within the Samoan community and her profound appreciation for Pacific Islander culture. Her vision revolves around creating positive connections and empowering the Pacific Islander community to rise to new heights. She ardently seeks opportunities to break barriers, ensuring that Pacific Islanders have a seat at every table where they were once excluded. Nackie's unwavering dedication and cultural pride make her an indispensable asset to the Pacific Islander community and the causes she champions.

Carl L Johnson

Carl L. Johnson, co-founder of PBD, brings a wealth of professional experience and a deeply personal journey to his role in the organization. Born at San Francisco General, Carl was adopted at the age of 5 months and raised in Fort Bragg, California.

Determined to pursue higher education, Carl embarked on his academic journey by enrolling at California State University, Sacramento, where he successfully earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. With a solid educational foundation, Carl embarked on a distinguished career in retail, spanning over 30 years. His multifaceted roles have encompassed operations, logistics, loss prevention, and human resources, showcasing his versatility and commitment to excellence in various professional domains.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Carl is a loving son, devoted husband, caring father, supportive brother, and cherished friend to many. His resilience shines through his personal journey as he continues to thrive despite his stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2015. In life, Carl lives by the mantra "waste no minutes," recognizing the preciousness of every moment and the brevity of life.

Carl's dedication to PBD is rooted in his passion for uplifting Pacific Islanders and advocating for their representation and rights. His diverse life experiences and unwavering determination make him an invaluable asset to the organization and a source of inspiration to all who have the privilege of knowing him.
